India has been forced to suffer its third consecutive defeat in the ICC World Cup. This is the first time since 1982 that the Indian team had to lose three consecutive matches in the World Cup. Despite opener Smriti Mandhana’s 88 runs, captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s 70 runs and Deepti Sharma’s 50 runs, the Indian team could not achieve the target. With this victory, England entered the semi-finals.

Smriti Mandhana came in the opening and played a brilliant innings but as soon as she was out, the match was out of India’s control. After this heart-breaking defeat, Mandhana sat down holding her head. Due to this defeat of the Indian team, its path to the semi-finals has become difficult. Mandhana along with captain Harmanpreet Kaur made a partnership of more than 100 runs. India scored three half-centuries but these did not help the team.

For India, Mandhana played the highest innings of 88 runs while Harmanpreet Kaur scored 70 runs while Deepti Sharma scored 50 runs. Harleen Deol was out after scoring 24 runs while Amanjot Kaur played an unbeaten inning of 18 runs while Sneh Rana scored 10 unbeaten runs. Heather Knight, who played a century, was chosen player of the match.

Earlier, after a brilliant century by reliable batsman Heather Knight (109) and a half-century by Amy Jones (56 runs), Indian off-spinner Deepti Sharma took four wickets, despite a great start, the England team could only score 288 runs for eight wickets. Knight, playing her 300th international match, played 91 balls during the stormy batting and during this she hit 15 fours and one six. In this way she scored her third ODI century and her best score so far in Women’s ODI.

Whereas for India also, reliable bowler Deepti bowled excellently. Whenever captain Harmanpreet Kaur asked Deepti to take the wicket, this experienced off-spinner lived up to her trust. He took four wickets for 51 runs, which is his best performance so far in an ODI World Cup match.
