President Donald Trump says there’s ‘nothing wrong’ with money his family has made in crypto, responding to financial revelations that revealed they made at least $1.4 billion from the industry last year.

Asked in a CNBC interview at the White House on Thursday whether he knew about the ventures, Trump said, “I may have known about it. I didn’t know.” He said there was nothing illegal in his involvement and that his goal was to lead America in crypto.

Trump handed over daily control of his businesses to his two elder sons before taking office, and did not sell his assets.

The disclosures released this week by the federal Office of Government Ethics made Trump the biggest crypto earner in American politics.

It shows about $636 million tied to his eponymous memecoin, which was launched on the eve of his return to office, about $594 million from World Liberty Financial, the crypto firm he co-founded with his sons and about $197 million from a stablecoin venture.
