
CZ told CoinDesk during two interviews that he sees multiple reasons for crypto’s 2026 bear market including investors shifting funds to AI, geopolitical events, and the general four-year crypto market cycle.
He laid out his goals for Binance.US – the US crypto exchange that he owns a majority, but does not run on a daily basis – saying he would like to see the platform tap Binance Global – the global crypto exchange that he owns a majority, but does not run – for its liquidity, as part of a broader effort to strengthen the US market.
And while he said in Washington, D.C., that his goal was to clear up any “misunderstandings” about himself and Binance, he said pleading guilty to violating the Bank Secrecy Act has done no harm to his reputation.
Nevertheless, CZ told CoinDesk that he does not want to run a crypto exchange again, and said he prefers to serve as an informal advisor to the various companies in which he has invested.

Still no real word on where this bill is. As a reminder, the ethics provisions remain the biggest hurdle to an agreement. Politico has profiled White House crypto liaison Patrick Witt, confirming that any deals he helps broker will require the President’s signature.
